Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Wins The EFF Charity Cup 2015
Current England squad members Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Calum Chambers became football managers last night for the annual England Footballers Foundation “EFF Charity Cup” which took place at the Hive, Barnet in aid of UNICEF.
16 teams turned out to be managed by past and present footballing legends at the EFF Charity Cup which is an annual charity football tournament with dinner and on stage Q&A's hosted by Geoff Shreeves and Charlie Webster.
Alex’s team named ‘Murder on Zidane’s floor’ beat The Chasers in the semi finals 3-1 and followed that with a fantastic 4-0 win in the final, beating AO United for the EFF Charity Trophy.
Runner up prize of the EFF charity plate went to Calum Chambers’s team ‘Chubby Alonsos’ beating Theo Walcott’s team ‘The Black Knights’ 2-0.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain said “Me and my team mates have had a great night and all for a good cause which makes it even better. I am really proud of my team as we only practiced together once yesterday, I reckon it’s my strategic management skills that helped us to win and steal the title for Jack Wilshere. We will be back next year to defend our title!”
The EFF Charity Cup is a fantastic initiative that helps to raise vital funds towards Unicef’s malaria prevention work and raise awareness of this important issue. Whilst the players are more used to finding the back of the net on the pitch, the EFF and Unicef partnership is using the players global status and appeal to raise funds and awareness about the danger of malaria and the benefits of sleeping under a mosquito net.
